Welcome to the e-bulletin of the Art, Cultural Institutions and Heritage Law Committee of the IBA
After a recess of some time, it is a pleasure to offer to all members of the IBA Art Law Committee a new issue of our e-bulletin, which will provide again a platform for exchange of ideas, articles and news on the topics that are covered by our committee.
The committee is preparing for what promises to be one of the most exciting IBA Annual Conferences in the recent history of the IBA. Not only is Madrid an exceptional venue thanks to its many historical and cultural sites. Even on uncertain times as these ones, the number of international lawyers interested in the activities of the IBA has not ceased to grow, and the IBA Annual Conference in Madrid is already able to boost record registration numbers. The Spanish host committee has put in place a particularly attractive additional program, which includes an inaugural speech by the King of Spain, flamenco dances and music, the best selection of Spanish cuisine and much more.
Our committee has been able to gather an extraordinary group of panellists for the three panels which will take place during the Annual Conference, with the participation of lawyers and representatives of museums and cultural institutions from different parts of the world. The topics selected and the confirmed panellists are detailed on page X.
The committee will also organize its own dinner at the very appreciated Restaurant ‘La Favorita’, on Tuesday 6 October at 2115. A meeting of the officers will take place on Tuesday 6 October, from 0815 to 0930 at the Santo Mauro Hotel. Other additional activities have been programmed, including a joint session with representatives of ICOM, WIPO and a visit limited to speakers and officers to the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum.
We are very pleased to communicate to all members that our committee reflected a steady growth of its members in the past 12 months. The e-bulletin gives all of us the opportunity to participate in the task of allowing our committee to become one of the most vibrant and interesting parts of the IBA.
