Conference Venue

Registration, exhibition, working sessions and non-ticketed delegate lunches will take place at the conference venue, unless otherwise indicated in the final programme. 

Ticketed lunches, unless otherwise stated in the final programme, will take place at the Omni Shoreham hotel located nearby at 2500 Calvert Street NW, Washington DC 2008.

Registration times

Registration desk is located on the Exhibition Level of the Washington Marriott Wardman Park for collection of conference documentation: name badge, delegate bag, working programme, and List of Participants.

Delegates should contact IBA Conference staff at the registration desk with any queries during the conference as this is the most efficient and effective way to deal with any queries.

Delegate lunches are free for registered delegates, exhibitors and press, not for accompanying persons.

Internet Café  - located in the Exhibition Hall, Exhibition Level,Washington Marriott Wardman Park

Business centre– The Washington Marriott Wardman Park has a fully equipped business centre.

Messages for fellow delegates - the IBA does not provide a message centre. Delegates can leave messages for one another at hotels, or via the mobile delegate app at m.ibanet.org (NB this does not give out direct email addresses)

Registration fees

Full delegate fees include:

  • Attendance at all working sessions

  • Conference documents including: final programme and conference list of participants.Speaker presentations will be available online after the conference.

  • Opening Ceremony and Welcome party (Sunday 18 September)

  • Lunches (Monday – Friday inclusive), plus tea/coffee during breaks.

  • Attendance at Host Committee reception (Thursday 22 September)

Accompanying Persons/Exhibitors do NOT have access to working sessions with the exception of the Rule of Law Symposium on Friday 23 September.

Accompanying Persons fees include:

  • Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party (Sunday 18 September)

  • Attendance at Host Committee reception (Thursday 22 September)

  • Attendance at the Rule of Law Symposium (Friday 23 September)

Fast Track Registration Desk

All delegates who have registered and paid for the conference, social functions and membership fees in full before close of business Tuesday 6 September will receive a voucher by e-mail on Wednesday 14 September to join the fast track registration desk in Washington. Delegates need to bring a print out or keep the e-mail to show staff on their smartphones.  If they haven’t received the email they can register at the general registration desk.

Accompanying person

US$305

No member of the legal profession may be registered as an accompanying person. Only registered accompanying persons (i.e. those paying the fee of $305) are eligible to participate in the social programme and tours.  Accompanying persons cannot attend working sessions.

CLE Accreditation

The Conference has been accredited for 25 hours of CPD/CLE. The certificate is available from staff at the Registration desk or delegates can request the certificate to be sent to them after the conference.

Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party - Sunday 18 September

Name badges are needed to access both events.

Opening Ceremony 1715 – 1845 – Walter E Washington Convention Center, 801 Vernon Place NW, Washington DC 20001

Transport will be provided from the official conference hotels to the Walter E Washington Convention Center.

Welcome Party 1900 – 2200 The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and The National Museum of the American Indian, 600 Independence Avenue SW, Washington DC 20597

Transport will be provided directly after the Opening Ceremony to the Welcome Party.

Social function places

Purchased function places will be contained within the bar code on name badges, therefore badges must always be worn at the conference and social functions.   Social function places can now only be purchased, subject to availability, onsite at the registration desk. Note: some functions have sold out.

If transport is provided, this will be indicated in the working programme and guest guide available at the conference.  Social function addresses will be listed on delegate statements, working programme and the guest guide.

Cancellation of registration and social function places

Any delegate who cancels after Tuesday 6 September will NOT receive a refund of registration fees or social event places.

  • Delegates can transfer their whole registration (but only once) to another member of their company or law firm but only now on-site in Washington with written authorisation from the original delegate.

  • Social function cancellations will only be refunded (minus 25% admin fee) if returned and resold onsite in Washington.  Refunds will be made from the London office after the conference.

Dress code

Business attire for working sessions and smart casual for social functions unless otherwise stated.

Name badges

Name badges for delegates and accompanying persons can be collected at the registration desk on all conference days.  Lost name badges must be replaced at the registration desk.  Proof of ID will be required to replace a missing badge. 

Airport transfers

No transfers are being provided.

Hotel accommodation

There are no hotel rooms left within our official room block.  Any queries regarding hotel bookings made through JLC must be directed to JLC. e-mail: jlchotel@judylaneconsulting.com

Tours

The tours agent CSI Washington, DC, will have a desk located on the Lobby Level of the Washington Marriott Wardman Park.
