IBA Legal Practice Division and Israel Bar Association to host first joint event in Eilat, 31 May – 3 June 2009
The IBA Legal Practice Division is presenting with the Israel Bar Association a two day international conference entitled The Effects of Globalization on the Legal Profession. For full details and to register please visit http://iba.d-u.co.il/Reg.htm.
The event will host multinational corporate counsel, leading practitioners from several continents, and members of the judiciary who will share their experience and expertise in areas which emphasise the need for legal integration between jurisdictions, such as cross-border transactions and litigation, lawyers in special missions, corporate governance and class actions.
The conference will also discuss recent attempts by legislators to place the role of ‘gate keepers’ on lawyers. These developments raise fundamental legal and ethical questions as well as potential professional liabilities to which present standard coverage may not be adequate.
The conference will be held alongside the Israel Bar's annual conference, hosting over 1,500 Israeli lawyers and many foreign lawyers and bar leaders. The conference will also include the traditional ‘hot topics’ opening session which hosts the Israeli Chief Justice, the Justice Minister and the Attorney General.
