The international LL.M masters programme from The IBA and The College of Law – the practical route to enhance your career.

Aimed at law graduates, newly qualified and more experienced lawyers wishing to enhance their skills and to compete in the global market; the LL.M is based on legal practice and provides you with a qualification that is rigorous, challenging and stimulating yet at the same time highly beneficial to your day to day working life.

The IBA’s International Practice Diploma Programme

Next intake July 2009

The programme is designed specifically to meet the needs of international practitioners throughout the world. The Programme's flexible distance learning format and support structure mean that jurisdictional boundaries represent no barrier to successful completion.

The IBA's Legal Internship Programme

Positions are available for undergraduates and postgraduate law students, or for lawyers waiting a pupillage position or for recently qualified lawyers to serve as an intern at the International Bar Association's office in London.

The PPID’s Training Course Programme

One-day training courses for young lawyers are offered throughout the world. Courses are designed to assist young and newly qualified lawyers in their understanding of the fundamentals of international legal business practice.

Unless advised otherwise by the host country, no fee is charged for attending the course.

7TH YOUNG LAWYERS' WRITING COMPETITION
 

 
Organised by the IBA Communications Law Committee on the occasion of the 20th Annual Communications and Competition Law Conference.
The competition is open to lawyers up to and including the age of 35, whether or not they are members of the IBA. Winners of the previous IBA Young Lawyers' Writing Competition are not entitled to participate.

Papers shall be based on one of the following topics, which will be two of the key themes covered at the conference:
  • The challenges involving the regulatory environment for the Next Generation Access Networks;
  • Perspectives on mobile regulatory issues.
The prize: free registration for the IBA Communications and Competition Law Conference to be held on 18-19 May 2009 in Florence, Italy (including lunch and dinner); up to €800 toward travel expenses and hotel fees; and the opportunity to present a summary paper during the conference.

Entries are encouraged from young lawyers from anywhere in the world.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR THE 2009 IBA CONFERENCE IN MADRID

This year the sections and committees of the IBA's Legal Practice Division are once again offering scholarships to young lawyers who wish to participate in the IBA Annual Conference, but may find financial difficulties in doing so.
The 2009 scholarship awards include the following:

  • Free registration for the IBA 2009 Annual Conference, 4-9 October 2009, Madrid, Spain;
  • a contribution towards travel costs to the conference;
  • a contribution towards accommodation costs while attending the conference;
  • two years’ free membership of the IBA, LPD and PPID including membership of one committee within the awarding section and one free PPID constituent;
  • a waiver of either the next IBA Annual Conference registration fee or the registration fee for the next specialist conference of their chosen committee; and
  • free membership of the Scholarship Alumni Group.

Each application must be accompanied by a 2,500 word paper on a subject selected by each of the sections, further details of which are available by clicking on the above links.

Please be advised that applicants are only permitted to apply for one section or committee scholarship and must be 35 years or under at the time of the conference. The deadline for submissions is Monday 27 April 2009.
