An Introduction to International Justice
The creation of the ICC cannot be seen in isolation but should be viewed as part of the general development of international law particularly international humanitarian, human rights and criminal law during the 1990s and early 2000. The links below provide a brief overview of past and present international judicial bodies detailing the time of their formation, the rationale behind their establishment and their respective jurisdictions.
The ICC's development has also been due in large part to the work of a global network of partners including inter-governmental and non-governmental organisations as well as academics. Through their work, these groups have contributed to shaping the ICC's policy and practice as well as raising awareness about its work.
