The Pro Bono Committee’s objectives are to foster worldwide recognition of the principle that access to justice is the right of all individuals and to promote access to justice for all, regardless of their financial means, race, age, ethnicity, gender, or popularity of cause.

 

2014 Pro Bono Award, in association with LexisNexis

At the IBA 2014 Annual Conference in Tokyo, the Committee will honour a lawyer who has shown an outstanding commitment to pro bono work as part of their legal career.

Speakers included microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus (above). The session also included the presentation of the Pro Bono Award 2012 to Mr Tong Lihua, Director of the Beijing Children's Legal Aid and Research.
