The Khodorkovsky Trial Observation Report, 2011On 20 September 2011 the IBAHRI released an extensive report on the trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky. The IBAHRI is the only organisation who had a full-time observer based in Moscow attending all sessions from 2009-2011.

The Gambia trial observation, 2009The IBAHRI followed the trial of seven journalists in The Gambia for alleged sedition and criminal defamation, subsequently releaseing a report detialing the findings and conclusions of the trial observation.

Burundi media trial observation, 2006Following concerns over the political motivation behind charges levied against four journalists from Burundi, the IBAHRI sent an international observer to Bujumbura in December 2006 to attempt to determine whether the trial and subsequent appeal hearings had been conducted in accordance with international standards. A subsequent report containing findings and conlusions was released.

Zimbabwe trial observation, 2005The IBAHRI sent a Trial Observer to Zimbabwe’s Provisional Magistrate’s Court in Bulawayo to hear a trial concerning 29 members of the human rights group Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA).

Zimbabwe trial observation, 2008In June 2008 there were a series of arrests made prior to the run off elections. Many of those arrested were practising lawyers, and in some cases were carrying out their professional duties at the time of arrest.

Venezuela trial observation, 2012 - on-goingThe IBAHRI is observing the trial of Venezuela Jugde Maria Lourdes Afiuni, and the trial of her lawyer Jose Graterol. Judge Afiuni's case has become emblematic of the persecution of judges in Venezuela.
