David Kaufman is Nixon Peabody’s Director of Global Strategies. He runs the 600-lawyer firm’s International Practice, including overseeing the firm’s international offices (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, and London), managing relationships with law firms around the world, working extensively with clients from the United States doing business globally, and helping international clients operating or investing in the U.S. Over the past several years, he has handled hundreds of transactions and other matters involving almost 140 different countries. He has over 35 years of experience working in China; is a founder of NP’s China Practice; and works closely with both American companies investing/operating in China and Chinese companies doing business in the United States.
David is a founder and Co-Chair of GlobalSF (and its predecessor organization, ChinaSF), a not-for-profit focusing on international economic development in California. He serves on the San Francisco-Haifa Sister City Committee. He is also the Chair of the local chapter of the American Technion Society, which supports Israel’s top research university.
He received both his MBA and B.S. in Economics (magna cum laude) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. David grew up in Altoona, Pennsylvania and currently lives in Tiburon, California. In his free time, he competes in triathlons -- enjoying swimming, biking, and running (in that order).
