Lawyer specializing in environmental law, ESG and impact, climate change, energy transition, ethnic law and green business. Experience in law firms, NGOs, research groups and companies in Europe and Latin America, Guillermo currently serves as Head of the Environment and Sustainable Business Practice and co-head of the ESG and Impact Practice at Brigard Urrutia.
He provides legal advice to national and international clients on matters related to the sustainability of projects, works and activities, including the representation of clients in litigation and environmental sanctioning investigations, conducting socio-environmental due diligences, processing environmental administrative authorizations, among others.
Guillermo conducts his work in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and also serves as lecturer at several universities in Colombia. He is author of several publications on environmental law, renewable energy and sustainability. Also, Guillermo serves as an Officer of the IBA Environment, Safety and Health at Work Committee, Vice Chair of the ABA´s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources’ (SEER) International Committee, representative for Colombia on the board of directors of the Global Association of Impact Lawyers GAIL, LATAM Chapter, co-founder and member of the board of directors of ALDAS and associate of the Environmental Law Institute - ELI.
J.D and Master´s in Law from the Law School of the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Guillermo holds an LL.M in Environmental and Energy Law from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven – K.U Leuven (Belgium) as well as postgraduate degrees in Environmental Law from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (Brazil) and in Regulation of Electricity and Gas from the Universidad Externado de Colombia.
