This event jointly organised by the International Bar Association (IBA) and the IE LawAhead Center on the Legal Profession, will discuss the main conclusions of the IBA report on the social and economic impact of the legal profession, published in June 2024. After a brief presentation of the main conclusions of the report, we will discuss from a practical perspective such relevant issues as the contribution of lawyers to the rule of law, the protection of human rights and democratic values, considering their current evolution. We will address the role of the legal profession in different aspects of people's and companies' lives and the problem of the lack of visibility of this work; we shall also reflect on the need to improve access to legal representation and justice.
