Shulamith Koenig

Convinced that human rights is a political ideology, guiding the future of humanity, Shulamith Koenig has, since  1998,  facilitated, developed, and organised, in more then 60 countries, learning/dialogues about the holistic vision and practical mission of human rights as a way of life, towards economic, social transformation with a gender perspective. She authored the UN Decade for Human Rights Education  (1995-2004) as well as facilitating the development of human rights cities, regional human rights learning institutions and a campaign to transform patriarchal structures to a system guided by human rights.  Shula is recipient of the 2003 UN Human Rights award, joining previous recipients, including Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Eleanor Roosevelt and Jimmy Carter. She has lectured extensively and published numerous manuals and articles to support learning at the community level.
