The Prosecutor vs. Thomas Lubanga Dyilo: 3 May to 24 May 2007
Introduction
The primary events of this period were a further request by Mr. Lubanga for additional resources to facilitate the defence and the appointment of two duty counsel. On 3 May, Mr. Lubanga filed a request for additional resources. The Presidency requested a response from the Registrar particularly in relation to the issue of the authenticity of the signature on the document. On 24 May, Mr. Lubanga filed a further request for additional resources to which the Registrar responded.
On 4 May, Mr. Emmanuel Altit was appointed as duty counsel for the sole purpose of filing submissions in response to the Prosecution’s request for leave to appeal Pre-Trial Chamber I’s decision on confirmation of charges and Ms. Patricia Annick Mongo was appointed on the same day and assigned the sole mandate of filing a response to the “Directions of the Appeals Chamber” (filed 5 February 2007) and a supplementation to Defence’s document entitled “Defence submission on the scope of the right to appeal within the meaning of Article 82(1)(b) of the Statute” (filed 7 February 2007).
