Motion to withdraw request for leave and proposed amicus brief on behalf of the International Criminal Bar.

On 25 July the International Criminal Bar (ICB) filed a motion before Trial Chamber I requesting that the Chamber accept the withdrawal of the motion of 4 June 2007 concerning the proposed amicus brief in relation to the pro se request filed by Mr. Thomas Lubanga for review of the Registry decision of May 14 denying his application for supplemental legal aid.

The request for withdrawal was advanced on two bases: first, that Mr. Lubanga was no longer unrepresented as he was now represented by counsel of his choice and secondly that the Registry had reconsidered their earlier decision and granted Mr. Lubanga’s request in part. In the circumstances the ICB felt that it was no longer appropriate to seek the status of amicus curiae or to pursue the motion.
