The Prosecutor v Thomas Lubanga Dyilo: 14 February to 9 March 2007
Introduction
On 13 February 2007 the Appeals Chamber handed down its judgment on the Defence’s appeal against the Pre-Trial Chamber’s ‘Decision on the Application for the Interim Release of Thomas Lubanga Dyilo.’ The Appeals Chamber confirmed the original decision. That judgment also considered parallel proceedings regarding the right of victims to participate in the appeal and the modalities for such participation.
On 14 February 2007 Judge Sylvia Steiner conducted a review of the Pre-Trial Chamber’s decision on Mr Lubanga’s detention pursuant to Article 60(3) of the Statute. In addition, the Defence filed a public version of its appeal against the Confirmation of Charges decision, based upon Article 82(1)(d). The Chamber also provided reasons for its decision on the modification of time limits pursuant to a confidential Defence filing.
