Media

The HRI 's media work and advocacy campaigns have galvanised international support to lobby for change. The HRI has raised the profile of judicial crises, particularly in Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Venezuela, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. HRI media work involves:

  • LegalBrief Africa: an innovative IBA electronic news diary that delivers a succinct weekly wrap-up of important African legal news to lawyers across Africa and the world. It is premised on the fact that African lawyers need quicker access to more, better information and lawyers around the world need to know what's going on in Africa. LegalBrief Africa is funded by the IBA Educational Trust and the Open Society Initiative Southern Africa (OSISA). To subscribe to LegalBrief Africa for free click on the link above.
  • Interventions when lawyers, judges, officials of lawyers' associations or others involved in the legal systems are threatened, detained or abused.
  • Press releases and other human rights publications.
  • Rule of Law Movement and Directory: Find out more about the IBA's rule of law movement and browse our fully searchable online directory of rule of law organisations across the globe.
  • HRI News: quarterly newsletter published by the HRI and distributed to all members. To become a member of the HRI and receive our quarterly newsletters click here.
