Palestinian Territories

Successful training was carried out in the Occupied Palestinian Territories in January 2007, thanks to funding from the Swedish Government.  The training focused on human rights law with an emphasis on:

  • women’s rights
  • rule of law
  • the independence of the judiciary
  • laws on international armed conflict
  • professional ethics.

The training was based on the IBA/UN Manual: Human Rights in the Administration of Justice and was aimed at lawyers practising in the region and it is hoped that a similar programme in Gaza will take place later in the year.
