What is the International Bar Association? In its role as a dual membership organisation, comprising 20,000 individual lawyers and over 195 Bar Associations and Law Societies, the International Bar Association (IBA) influences the development of international law reform and shapes the future of the legal profession. Its Member Organisations cover allcontinents and include the American Bar Association, the German Federal Bar, the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, the Law Society of Zimbabwe and the Mexican Bar Association.
Grouped into two Divisions – the Legal Practice Division and the Public and Professional Interest Division – the Association covers all practice areas and professional interests. It provides members with access to leading experts and up-to-date information as well as top-level professional development and network-building opportunities through high quality publications and world-class Conferences. The IBA’s Bar Issues Commission provides its Member Organisations with substantive programmes and social activities in and between meetings and the IBA's Human Rights Institute works across the Association, helping to promote, protect and enforce human rights under a just rule of law, and to preserve the independence of the judiciary and the legal profession worldwide.

What is the Communications Law Committee? The Communications Law Committee is a Committee of the Intellectual Property, Communications and Technology Law Section of the Legal Practice Division. It deals with issues regarding communications legal regulation. More specifically, the Committee focuses on communication technology, delivery mechanisms, services, and equipment with particular reference to convergence and new regulation of services.

What are the Committee’s main objectives? The objective of the Committee is to become the best international legal forum for Communications Law.

Who can join your Committee? Any full member of the IBA can become a member of this Committee.

What types of membership do you offer? In order to be member of our Committee you will have to apply to be a full member of IBA. The membership package is as follows:
Full IBA membership - this includes membership of the IBA, Legal Practice Division (LPD) and Public and Professional Interest Division (PPID)- (with one free Committee in LPD and one free Constituent in PPID).

How do I become a member? There are two ways in which you can join the IBA. The quickest and easiest way is to join and pay online. Click here to join online now and follow the instructions.
Alternatively, you can Click here to download the Membership Application Form. You then simply need to print, and fill out the form and return it to the IBA along with your payment.

What are the annual fees? Full IBA Membership: £195.00 per annum. This includes membership of the IBA, LPD and PPID (with one free LPD Committee and one free PPID Constituent)
Additional Committees, Constituents and Fora can be joined at a cost of £15.00 each.

How do I go about renewing my membership? The membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December each year. The IBA will contact you via email or letter at the beginning of each membership year with a renewal notice and instructions. Renewal dues can be paid to the IBA Online, or by returning the renewals invoice to the IBA along with payment.

How can I change my membership details? Members are able to change their details via the My IBA area of the website. Members must log in using the username and password allocatied on joining. Your Username is defaulted to your IBA Membership Number (1-7 digits). Your password is defaulted to your Family Name. Alternatively Members can email the membership services department with the alterations that need to be made: member@int-bar.org

What should I do if I would like to resign or be removed from this membership?
Should you wish to cancel your membership please contact the Membership department in writing expressing your wish and the reason for your cancellation.
