Constituent Overview

The Objects of the Committee are as follows:

• Retention as IBA Members of senior lawyers.
• Acting within and without the IBA as a Pressure Group to advance the interests of senior lawyers.
• Provisions of programmes of interest to senior lawyers whether retired or not.
• Linking and sharing experiences with similar groups of lawyers and other professionals.
• Acting as a clearing house for senior lawyers in finding them unpaid positions to assist in sustainable development projects via the developing Bars within the International Bar Association.

The Committee held two half-day Sessions at the 2005 Annual Conference of the IBA in Prague, as follows:-

• A session on succession and retirement issues in conjunction with the Law Practice Management Committee of the IBA.
• A Session on how senior lawyers can assist the developing Bars with sustainable projects in conjunction with the Bar Issues Commission.
