Taking the form of a webinar, this event will provide the opportunity to learn about the current state of the mobility services industry in Europe and network with some of the leading European lawyers working in the automotive and mobility services industry.

The last decade has seen a huge level of European investment in many aspects of mobility services. From the launch of the self-driving car to the integration of micro-mobility as a significant contributor to transport ecosystems. Many of the challenges in developing these services have been much harder than anticipated. These challenges range from road safety issues to regulatory challenges and achieving commercial viability.

In his keynote address, Professor Nick Reed will give an overview of the current state of mobility services in Europe and will look at how these services are promising to achieve their potential.

The keynote speech will be followed by two breakout sessions in which attendees will work at small moderated round tables to discuss critical legal issues now facing the industry.

Breakout Sessions

Interactive workshop: hot topics in the European automobile and mobility services industry. The session will take the form of a workshop with moderators facilitating round table discussions on two legal hot topics in the automotive and mobility services industry. These topics are:

Topic 1 - Challenges of connectivity

The first breakout session will discuss issues concerning connected vehicles and the challenges of connectivity, including its impact on liability, the interaction of telecoms regulatory regimes with embedded systems and the use of mobile devices in cars.

Topic 2 - Contracting for shared mobility

The second working group will concentrate on shared mobility and the essential points to consider when drafting terms and conditions of contracts in this area. The participants will, among others, discuss ways of ensuring that vehicles are only used as intended and of dealing with liability issues of shared mobility service providers in relation to technologies used in the vehicle.

Both breakout sessions will consider the impact of the current pandemic on the discussed topics and the possible outlook for the future and will have a chance to review the foreseeable consequences of the EC proposed Data Governance Act, which aims to be the new framework for big data and mobility in Europe.
