The IBA set up the IBA Charitable Trust (Registered No 1112282) in 2005 and this now replaces the IBA Educational Trust as our main charitable vehicle in the United Kingdom.

IBA Rules of Evidence Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Arbitration Committee. The Rules of Evidence Subcommittee was established to undertake a comprehensive review of the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Commercial Arbitration (“IBA Rules”), which were adopted by the IBA Council in 1999. The updated Rules were approved on 29 May 2010.

Immigration and Nationality Law Committee ♦
The Immigration and Nationality Law Committee is concerned with all aspects of immigration and nationality law on a worldwide basis, including business-related immigration, family reunion policies, refugees and compassionate cases. This is a committee of the Human Resources Section.
Exemption from punishment or loss. In the international law of human rights, it refers to the failure to bring perpetrators of human rights violations to justice and, as such, itself constitutes a denial of the victims' right to justice and redress.
Indigenous Peoples Committee ♦
The Indigenous Peoples Committee was formed to look at questions of development as it affects both land and people. It approaches the subject from the legal perspective of the people and the land affected rather than that of developers or proponents of projects, governments or business in general. This is a committee of the Law and Individual Rights Section.
Individual Tax and Private Client Committee ♦

Industrial Espionage and Business Intelligence Working Group ♦
This is part of the Business Crime Committee.
Innovations in Financing Transactions Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Banking Law Committee. The Subcommittee's focus is, as its name suggests, on innovations in financing transactions.
Insolvent - unable to pay creditors and having all goods/effects administered by a liquidator or trustee and sold for the benefit of those creditors; as a result of an order under the Insolvency Act 1986.

Insolvency Legislation and Reform Harmonization Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Insolvency and Restructuring Creditors’ Rights Committee (SIRC). In addition to monitoring and reporting on developments in national insolvency legislation around the globe, subcommittee members staff the Section's commitments to, among other world bodies, UNCITRAL, and will also respond to other requests for input on insolvency law reform projects.

Insurance is present in every facet of commercial, industrial and private life. Lawyers practising in many different fields encounter insurance and its problems and can greatly benefit from the knowledge which membership of this committee provides. The Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Committee focuses on intellectual property and entertainment law. The term 'intellectual property', as it is commonly referred to today, includes a diverse range of areas of law. This is a committee of the Intellectual Property, Communications and Technology Law Section.
International Children’s Issues Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Family Law Committee.
International Construction Projects Committee ♦
This committee is for lawyers interested in construction law and in exchanging experiences from construction projects around the world. All aspects and types of construction and engineering projects are dealt with, from traditional building and civil engineering contracts to state-of-the art project finance infrastructure projects. This is a committee of the Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law (SEERIL).

Governed by the Rome Statute, is the first permanent, treaty based, international criminal court established to help end impunity for the perpetrators of the most serious crimes of concern to the international community.
International Financial Law Reform Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Banking Law Committee. Since being established in 1998, this Subcommittee, has worked to promote the reform of commercial law by encouraging practitioners in the field of international finance law to identify the need for reform arising from innovation or change in the financial sector and to achieve a consensus for the need for similar reform across a number of different jurisdictions.

The International Franchising Committee focuses on the law and business of international franchising. This is a committee of the International Sales, Franchising and Product Law Section.
International Humanitarian Law (IHL)
The legal corpus "comprised of the Geneva Conventions and the Hague Conventions, as well as subsequent treaties, case law, and customary international law.

This is a subcommittee of the Litigation Committee.
International Practice Diploma Programme (IPDP)
A continuing legal education programme designed specifically to meet the needs of lawyers wishing to practice internationally.
International Sales Committee ♦
As part of its activities, the International Sales Committee examines legal issues fundamental to the growth and development of international commerce. This is a committee of the International Sales, Franchising and Product Law Section.
International Trade in Legal Services Committee ♦ Formerly WTO Working Group
A committee of the Bar Issues Commission. Its role is to monitor the work of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) globally and provide information and guidance to bar associations and law societies to answer questions potentially raised by trade negotiators from their own countries.
Internet Business Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Technology Law Committee. The Internet Business Subcommittee addresses technical and legal aspects of doing business online, including the display, storage and transmission of content.
A temporary position with an emphasis on on-the-job training rather than merely employment, making it similar to an apprenticeship.
Letters issued by the IBAHRI to governments and authorities on situations such as the persecution of lawyers, judges or other working to defend the rule of law; or on specific legislation such as the death penalty.
Intrusive Technologies Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Technology Law Committee. The Intrusive Technologies Subcommittee looks at developments in the law, practice and technology associated with the use and monitoring of personal, business and other activities.
Investment Funds Committee ♦
The Investment Funds Committee provides a convenient forum for its members to consider current developments in the global investment funds industry, including both regulatory and product development. This is a committee of the Financial Services Section.
Investment Treaty Arbitration Subcommittee ♦
This is a subcommittee of the Arbitration Committee. The Investment Treaty Arbitration Subcommittee focuses on the broad range of issues pertaining to the emerging field of investment treaty arbitration.
