26th Annual Communications and Competition Conference - Mobile mergers: is it all about Spectrum?

Mobile mergers: is it all about spectrum?

Radio spectrum is a key enabler for mobile operators. Not surprisingly, when mergers among mobile operators are under
review, radio spectrum issues are at the top of the regulatory agenda. This session will focus on the role that radio spectrum
plays in the competition assessment of mobile mergers. What are the special and unique features of radio spectrum that are
addressed in merger reviews? What is the role of divestment of spectrum rights as a remedy when obtaining clearance for
problematic mergers? How are spectrum remedies constructed and implemented? Are they effective? What is the role of the
NRAs in enforcing antitrust remedies?
