IBA Corporate Counsel Forum proposes new chapter for revised IBA Code of Ethics

The Corporate Counsel Forum (CCF) has drafted a new chapter of ethical guidelines for in-house counsel, in parallel to the activities of the Bar Issues Commission and the Professional Ethics Committee to renew the IBA Code of Ethics.

As the IBA Code of Ethics applies to most in-house counsel as members of the legal profession, the CCF has proposed that these guidelines take the form of a complementary chapter to the Code, providing explanatory notes on the application of certain general principles to in-house counsel. A first draft of the notes will be discussed at the 8th Corporate Counsel Conference in Paris on 24 February

The explanatory notes for the chapter may be downloaded by clicking here.

Any comments on the explanatory notes are welcome. Please send any comments or requests for further information to Jan Eijsbouts, CCF Advisory Board Member, at ajaj@eijsbouts-zeist.nl.

The working group for this initiative is led by CCF Co-Chair Henry Horbaczewski, together with Jan Eijsbouts, Peter Turner and Jean-Claude Najar of the CCF Advisory Board.
