With BIM (building information modeling), digital work processes will find their way into planning and construction as well as real estate and facility management. The co-working spaces quickly became a here-to-stay trend in the Brazilian Market and represent a disruption to the customary use of real estate property. The current challenge is to define the legal framework applicable to such collaborative work spaces, which combine concepts of short-term commercial lease with service rendering—a hybrid form of contract that is so far lacking any supporting legal framework nor a tax treatment clearly defined.

On 17 May 2018 the Royal Decree of 23 April 2018 regarding Belgian real estate investment trusts, which amended an earlier Royal Decree of 13 July 2014, entered into force. The BREIT Royal Decree had to be amended in view of the law of 22 October 2017, which amended the law of 12 May 2014 regarding Belgian real estate investment trusts, also known as the BREIT Act. As a consequence, the anticipated liberalisation of the BREIT regulation and operation can be implemented.
