Regulator(s) of Admission

Lawyers are admitted by their local provincial Colegio (Bar Association). In some jurisdictions e.g. Province of Buenos Aires there are several Bar Associations since the province is divided by the law in different departments, however they are allowed to practice in the whole province. In the City of Buenos Aires the admission is carried out by the Bar Association which is the “Colegio Público de la Capital Federal” created by Law No. 23,187 (the “CPACF”). There are 82 Bar Associations in Argentina - for full list see the Federacion Argentina de Colegios de Abogados (Federation of Bars of Argentina)

Regulator(s) of Practice

In the City of Buenos Aires regualtion is carried out by the Colegio Publico (CPACF). It applies its own Code of Ethics issued by its legislative body “Asamblea de Delegados” on April 15th, 1987. It also applies Law 23,187 which also contains rules regarding legal practice, and Internal Rules (“Reglamento Interno”) issued by the legislative body of the CPACF “Asamblea de Delegados” on December 16th, 1986. The other regions of Argentina follow a similar approach.
