The Law Society Northern Territory grants and renews practising certificates, and makes legal profession rules.


Disciplinary Authorities

The Law Society Northern Territory investigates complaints and may impose a fine or reprimand to deal with a complaint summarily for unsatisfactory professional conduct (but not professional misconduct). Unsatisfactory professional conduct complaints may be referred (and professional misconduct complaints must be referred) by the Law Society to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal to make disciplinary, compensation and other orders. An order from the Disciplinary Tribunal recommending removal from the roll is referred to the Supreme Court.
