Regulator(s) of Practice
The Queensland Law Society makes legal profession rules (ie professional conduct and practice rules) for solicitors. The Bar Association of Queensland makes legal profession rules (ie professional conduct and practice rules) for barristers.
The Queensland Legal Services Commissioner investigates complaints. The Commissioner may refer a complaint to the Queensalnd Law Society or Bar Association of Queensland for investigation and report. The Commissioner may institute disciplinary proceedings before the Legal Practice Committee or the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal. These bodies may make orders imposing sanctions or other remedies. An order from the Tribunal recommending removal from the roll is referred to the Supreme Court.
