The local Greek Bar Associations issue licences to lawyers and register law firms.


Regulator(s) of Practice

Lawyers are organized in sixty-three (63) local bar associations (one for the territorial jurisdiction of each court of first instance) the presidents of which form the Council of Presidents (olomeleia proedron dikigorikon sillogon ellados), as there is no national Bar. They create the Code of Conduct while the government creates the official legislation.

Disciplinary Authorities

Each of the local Bars in Greece is a self-regulatory disciplinary body, and has its own Disciplinary Board of Lawyers.
