The IBA Task Force on the Future of Legal Services was formed to address critical issues arising from change, initially identifying them in its 'Drivers of Change' report, and to tangibly and meaningfully contribute to help our profession transition through this period.

In March 2014 the Ministry of Health of Guinea reported an outbreak of the Ebola virus disease. It soon spread through West Africa and, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are now 3,069 reported cases, with 1,552 recorded deaths – and more expected. To tackle the outbreak, the WHO has sanctioned the use of experimental drugs, including a serum called ZMapp, as there is no existing treatment for the disease, raising a number of ethical and legal issues.

US-based microblogging platform Twitter has decided to sue the US government. The company says the Department of Justice (DoJ) is only allowing it to release limited information about the government’s national security requests for information about its users, which it says violates its First Amendment rights.
