A webinar presented by the IBA Technology Law Committee
The Technology Law Committee’s Fireside Chats with Technology Leaders will be informal, yet structured, interviews between a moderator and a speaker and will provide a unique opportunity to uncover the speaker’s personal stories and ideas. Further, these Fireside Chats offer a chance for participants to discuss any problems they are facing, and for the membership to hear from their client base about pressing issues or topics of interest. The first Fireside Chat will feature Jaco Cohen, who has been working with Mercado Libre since its very beginning as a start-up in a garage in Buenos Aires. For the last 22 years, he has been responsible for leading the company’s legal affairs in more than 18 countries in the Latin American region, and faced numerous regulatory and legal challenges. His team also supported the company in going public and becoming one of the most successful marketplace and payment solution companies in Latin America. During the interview, Jaco will share with the audience his journey with Mercado Libre and provide insights into its growth. He will also discuss how technology has improved the efficiency of his legal department, what the role of general counsel in a tech company is, and what are the skills he looks for when hiring new additions to his team.
