A conference teaser presented by the IBA Professional Ethics Committee

A lawyer, as a member of the legal profession, is a representative of clients, an officer of the legal system and a public citizen having special responsibility for the quality of justice. As a representative of clients, a lawyer performs various functions. As advisor, a lawyer provides a client with an informed understanding of the client’s legal rights and obligations and explains their practical implications.

As advocate, a lawyer asserts the client’s position under the rules of the adversary system. How the lawyer services have changed in the new normal from a professional ethics perspective?

This event is a taste of what to expect in Milan in June 2022 at the IBA Global Professional Ethics Symposium – Challenges and opportunities of the new normal for ethics in the legal profession.

Topics will include:
• Ethical dilemmas in remote court hearings
• Ethical aspects of virtual BoDs and Shareholders’ Meetings
• Remote relationships between lawyers and their clients are challenging: What are the main challenges to professional ethics and the administration of justice?

At the end of the discussions, there will be a 30 minutes networking session, through the REMO platform, which every attendee will be invited to attend.
