The topic for this session is ‘Law and Procedure: Topical Issues for Energy Lawyers’ and our speakers Adam Constable QC, Tom Owen and Matthew Finn from Keating Chambers will discuss issues relating to contract law, including construction of contract and the developing role of legal presumptions, rights and options in relation to termination and adjudication and enforcement issues, all within the context of complicated energy projects.

Adam Constable QC is described as ‘one of the best construction lawyers and silks of his generation,’ (Chambers and Partners, 2018), Adam specialises in onshore and offshore construction, engineering, energy, shipbuilding and technology disputes along with professional negligence and insurance claims related to these sectors.

Tom Owen is recognised as one of the leading juniors at the construction and energy Bar. Legal Week’s ‘Stars at the Bar’ say ‘he has everything you would want of Counsel’.

Matthew Finn specialises in construction, engineering and energy industry dispute resolution, covering litigation as well as adjudication, mediation and arbitration.

Keating Chambers is a leading set of commercial barristers’ chambers, with a thriving domestic and international practice. They have specialist advocates with a genuine understanding of the demanding technical and commercial issues that arise in disputes within the energy sector. Their ‘virtually unrivalled strength in depth’ is built upon many years of experience with onshore, offshore and marine projects, and their ‘top drawer’ barristers are praised for their ‘practical, hands-on approach’.
