SUMMARY:Access to justice for persons with disabilities: an international
  review
DESCRIPTION:This session will detail the manifold legal and other issues 
 concerning access to justice for those with disabilities around the worl
 d. Presenters will highlight the role of substantive law-making in elimi
 nating discrimination\, the impediments to the use of legal systems acro
 ss jurisdictions by people with disabilties and the role of legal aid or
 ganisations in protecting their rights.\n\nResearch undertaken on behalf
  of the committee will be presented to the session\, and an opportunity 
 for delegates to discuss the results will follow. The session will be of
  interest to those acting for people with disabilities\, as well as thos
 e whose clients may find themselves in breach of laws designed to promot
 e the interests of\, and eliminate discrimination against\, them.\n\nThi
 s will be a thought-provoking and timely session given the responsibilit
 y of the profession and its clients at law for the most vulnerable group
  in any jurisdiction.
