SUMMARY:Satellites: extraterrestrial facilitator of precision agriculture
  and guardian of the farming environment
DESCRIPTION:The session will introduce how satellites can contribute to f
 acilitating ‘precision agriculture’\, which means agriculture with a hea
 vy reliance on data. It will then discuss how satellites can be used in 
 enforcing agricultural and environmental laws. The session will also con
 sider how satellites may enable more efficient farming (including fish f
 arming) by the use of autonomous vehicles. For collecting data and obser
 ving non-compliance of regulations\, earth observation satellites will p
 rimarily be used\; for driving autonomous vehicles\, navigational satell
 ites will have a role to play. The session will then discuss what contra
 ctual and licensing framework will be used\, as well as which legal issu
 es are relevant\, including those of the regulation of farming\, environ
 mental law\, data protection law and intellectual property law besides s
 pace law.
