DESCRIPTION:The recent corporate scandals of corruption in Latin America 
 and their impact in the value of the involved companies have given incre
 ased relevance to corporate governance principles. In addition\, new reg
 ulations have appeared to encourage a more active participation of share
 holders in corporate management.\nThis panel will discuss recent trends 
 on how companies are dealing with these issues\, what actions they have 
 taken and what regulations have been passed\, or are discussed to being 
 passed\, to prevent similar cases. The panel will also argue about the r
 ole that independent directors and institutional investors play in being
