SUMMARY:Government procurement: practical thoughts on doing business\, co
mpliance\, sanctions\, corruption and business crime
DESCRIPTION:This session offers practical application of critical regulat
ions\, and examples of how to do business with governments in selected j
urisdictions\, including but not limited to the United States and the Eu
ropean Union. This is not be a discussion on achieving political policy
outcomes by controlling trade. Rather\, we would like to discuss practic
al requirements\, compliance (including sanctions and corruption issues)
in actually doing business with governments. In the US\, for example\,
in the 2017 financial year\, the Department of Defense obligated more mo
ney on federal contracts (US$320bn) than all other government agencies c
ombined. What are practical considerations you can use to help put your
clients in a position to compete for that business? We use case examples
to talk through tips\, tricks and traps in navigating the government pr
 ocurement playing fields.
