SUMMARY:Keynote debate: The Nordic model - a winning formula or bound to 
 disappear?
DESCRIPTION:The Nordic model\, while being based on the free market\, res
 ts upon the pillars of a comprehensive welfare state\, publicly funded h
 igh-quality education and strong employee protection with a high share o
 f unionised workforce. In other words\, the model comes along with high 
 taxation and social contributions\, high labour costs and heavy regulati
 on. This notwithstanding\, the\nNordic countries are home to a lasting ‘
 economic miracle’\, with relative political stability\, steady economic 
 growth\, price stability\, low unemployment and healthy state finances. 
 Also in terms of\ninnovation and new technology\, the Nordic countries c
 onsistently have a leading edge.\nA panel of experts will further explai
 n the Nordic model and discuss issues such as:\n• How\, respectively to 
 which extent has the Nordic model really been able to bring together sta
 te-directed social equality and\nfree market efficiency?\n• What are the
  down sides?\n• What are the challenges to the Nordic model\, and how ca
 n they be mastered? Will it survive globalisation and digitalisation?\n•
  How does the Nordic model affect entrepreneurship\, venture capital and
  private equity investments – compared with other regions of the world?
