DESCRIPTION:SustainabilityFocusThe role of corporations in being part of 
 both the problem and the solution of climate change and sustainability h
 as never been more pronounced. Pressure from activist investors and fina
 ncial institutions are holding companies increasingly accountable for th
 eir environmental\, social and governance (ESG) performance. Governments
 \, activists\, and customers are focused on corporate contributions to c
 limate change and the adequacy of efforts to address emissions through v
 arious net-zero commitments. This is creating legal issues for boards\, 
 corporate leadership and governance\, and the courts as these issues mov
 e from advocacy and policy to regulations\, liability\, and litigation. 
 This showcase panel will focus on the growing intersection between the c
 limate change and ESG movements and the role of the lawyer in advising c
 lients to prepare for and mitigate legal risks through corporate governa
 nce in the wake of growing regulatory and stakeholder pressures\, and pr
 eparing to address them when issues translate to litigation and liabilit
 y.\n\nSUSTAINABILITY FOCUS sessions marked as such are part of the IBA A
 nnual Conference 2022 sustainability focus on Tuesday and Thursday\, gro
 uping sessions discussing different aspects of ESG and sustainability ac
 ross the different legal fields.\n
