SUMMARY:Economic sanctions: addressing conflict of laws and the role of c
 ounsel
DESCRIPTION:This session will address the current state of international 
 economic sanctions laws\, including the impact on trade\, financial serv
 ices\, technology\, and transportation. The panel will focus\, in partic
 ular\, on the impact of counter-sanctions and blocking programmes\, incl
 uding those of the People’s Republic of China and European Union\, and h
 ow to navigate circumstances in which such laws conflict. As part of tha
 t discussion\, this panel will address the role of the attorney in advis
 ing on sanctions compliance\, particularly where there is a conflict of 
 laws\, and how attorneys can mitigate their own professional risk under 
 such circumstances.
