SUMMARY:Where is my profit share? The Nagoya Protocol and how companies m
 ust compensate indigenous traditional knowledge
DESCRIPTION:DiversityInclusionIn April 2022\, the world will gather at th
e 15th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity a
nd the 4th meeting of parties to the Nagoya Protocol\, major internation
al treaties aimed at protecting biodiversity and associated traditional
knowledge.\nOn this occasion\, the international community is expected t
o assess the effectiveness of these instruments to achieve the outlined
objectives\, including ensuring the fair and equitable sharing of the be
nefits obtained by accessing and using traditional knowledge of indigeno
us and local communities to carry out research and development of produc
ts and services.\nTaking advantage of this perfect timing\, we propose t
o carry out a panel that can take stock of this international meeting wh
ile discussing current issues on the protection and enhancement of assoc
iated traditional knowledge from three different perspectives:\n\nTheme
1: The effectiveness of the Nagoya Protocol and the Convention on Biolog
ical Diversity in promoting the sharing of benefits obtained from the us
e of traditional knowledge: reality or fiction?\n\nTheme 2: The protecti
on of traditional knowledge and benefit-sharing from the perspective of
megabiodiverse countries: experiences and perspectives.\n\nTheme 3: Trad
itional knowledge associated in the digital world: is it possible to gua
rantee prior consent and benefit sharing in a world where everything is
 available just a click away?\n
