DESCRIPTION:Digital assets have posed challenges to existing legal and re
 gulatory frameworks. To resolve these challenges\, initiatives are takin
 g place at national and international levels that are meant to provide l
 egal certainty for financial transactions involving these types of asset
 s. For instance\, work on the substantive law aspects of digital assets 
 is being conducted by UNIDROIT with the objective to develop a future le
 gal instrument containing principles and legislative guidance in the are
 a of private law and digital assets\, the Hague Conference on private in
 ternational law is considering work on the law applicable to digital ass
 ets\, and the Financial Stability Board published a proposed framework f
 or the international regulation of crypto-asset activities with the main
  goal to promote the consistency and comprehensiveness of regulatory\, s
 upervisory and oversight approaches to crypto-asset activities and stren
 gthen international cooperation and coordination. This session intends t
 o provide an overview on the current state of these projects.
