SUMMARY:Session five: Investor activism including activism regarding gree
 nwashing by corporate issuers
DESCRIPTION:The panel will examine the growing influence of shareholder a
 ctivism and its implications for corporate governance\, investor engagem
 ent and ESG (environmental\, social and governance) accountability. It w
 ill explore how evolving codes of corporate governance are empowering in
 stitutional investors\, the rise of activist and ESG-focused funds and c
 hanging patterns in shareholder proposals and voting behaviour. The disc
 ussion will also consider management’s duties and liabilities in respond
 ing to activism\, the strategic use of litigation and media and the incr
 easing role of foreign investors in shaping ESG priorities. With a spotl
 ight on regulatory responses to greenwashing and the use of emerging tec
 hnologies\, the session will take a comparative approach between Europe 
 and Asia.
