SUMMARY:Concurrent session 5B: Artificial intelligence governance: the ne
 xt ESG?
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence can no longer be regarded just a tech
nology issue. As organisations increasingly embed AI into their products
\, services and internal operations\, boards\, regulators and legal advi
sers are being asked to navigate a rapidly evolving landscape of governa
nce\, accountability and risk. Much like ESG before it\, AI governance i
s emerging as a strategic business imperative that cuts across every are
a of legal practice − from corporate governance and commercial contracti
ng to employment\, privacy\, intellectual property\, regulatory complian
ce and dispute resolution.\n\nThis session will explore whether AI gover
nance is becoming the next ESG and what that means for businesses operat
ing across the Asia Pacific region. Bringing together perspectives from
technology law and practitioners from Asia Pacific and beyond\, the pane
l will examine whether existing governance frameworks are sufficient\, h
ow different jurisdictions are approaching AI regulation\, whether busin
esses can develop a consistent governance strategy across divergent lega
l systems and the role lawyers will play in helping organisations deploy
AI responsibly while remaining innovative and competitive.\n
