Arb40 Subcommittee
This Subcommittee was established for younger arbitrators aged 40 or below and reflects the Arbitration Committee’s aim of engaging more actively with the younger members of the arbitration community. It is led by a Steering Committee focused on thought leadership for the next generation of arbitration practitioners. Through this thought leadership the IBA Arb 40 Steering Committee has produced a series of reports and is actively involved in organising workshops and symposia for younger arbitration practitioners. All expressions of interest in becoming involved in the work of this Subcommittee should be directed to the officers.
Projects
The Subcommittee launched a competition to gather meaningful stories about our shared experiences in arbitration and in August 2023, published the winning entries in a unique compendium.
The Subcommittee launched the Guide on Technology Resources for Arbitration Practitioners, containing a list of currently available technological advances that can be used to augment or assist an international arbitration across various areas, with a view to making modern-day technology more accessible to arbitration practitioners. The Subcommittee published a compendium of arbitration practice containing procedural suggestions for improving or adapting the arbitration process.
The Subcommittee published a Toolkit for Award Writing offering advice for young arbitration practitioners as they approach the drafting of their first awards.
The Subcommittee published a report assessing the status of the global development of arbitration, 'The Current and Future State of International Arbitration: Regional Perspectives'.
