Biography

Haroon joined Deloitte in 2023 and has over 15 years of experience in delivering restructuring mandates. He is a restructuring specialist in developing turnaround proposals, accelerated M&A, IBR’s, rapid cost reduction, cash management, contingency planning and insolvency mandates. He was listed in the Global Restructuring Review ‘40 under 40’ as a leading restructuring practitioner. In his previous roles, Haroon spent 13 years at a UK big 4 including a secondment to Singapore, working on high profile liquidations, including MF Global. He also supported the business in developing new service lines, specifically their financial restructuring offering. Additionally, Haroon has investment banking experience with Merrill Lynch in New York. Haroon is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Manchester. In addition, Haroon undertook the IFT Academy with the Institute for Turnaround (UK). He also holds a Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency issued by the Insolvency Practitioners Association in the UK He is a registered insolvency practitioner and official liquidator at the Dubai International Financial Centre and Abu Dhabi Global Market. He is also a registered expert with the Financial Reorganization Committee in the UAE allowing him to handle procedures under the Bankruptcy Law. Recent experience includes: - Restructuring advisor to a construction business in the UAE with AED5bn of debt as it applied for protection under the UAE Bankruptcy act. - Independent Business Review of a leading concrete business based in the UAE. - Appointed Administrator of ADGM registered Capiter Technologies Holding Limited. - Appointed Liquidator of DIFC registered Consol MENA Limited. - Options review and accelerated M&A for a steel fabricator based in Sharjah. - Contingency planning for a logistics business based in Dubai. - Managing work streams and delivering value to stakeholders on the Thomas Cook liquidation. - Developing and delivering a creditors’ voluntary arrangement for an Egyptian owned £100m turnover high profile clothing brand. - Undertaking an independent business review and helping extend £30m lending facilities for a client in the oil and gas sector. - Managing the insolvency of a property portfolio and delivering the sale out of insolvency for £80m.
