Biography

John-Charles van Essche is the Global Head of the Restructuring and Workout Group at Natixis and oversees the bank’s workout units throughout the world (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Americas and Asia Pacific). He has more than 35 years of broad-based and global experience in distressed assets, workouts, restructurings, complex transactions, specialized financings and portfolio administration. Before his current global role, he headed Natixis’ Restructuring and Workout Group for the Americas, and in that capacity also directed for several years the US side of the bank’s Capital Markets “Bad Bank” created following the 2008-2009 financial crisis. Before joining Natixis in 2009, he was a senior workout specialist at Credit Agricole (Corporate & Investment Bank), Barclays, and M&T Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University - School of Foreign Service and an MBA (honors) from Fordham University - Graduate School of Business Administration.
