Digital tax: from a web tax to a robin hood tax?

With the proliferation of unilateral measures across the globe, pressure is growing for international agreement to be reached at OECD level on a framework for taxation of the digital economy. 

This panel will address:
  • OECD Pillar I proposals for the reallocation of taxing rights to market jurisdictions
    • What are the key areas of disagreement?
    • Practical implications and challenges for multinationals
  • What is the alternative?
    • EU and unilateral measures; double taxation and trade war; or
    • Coming back to other multilateral initial proposals from the UK or India (for instance)?
  • The role of the US
    • What can we expect from the Biden administration in 2021?
  • Extra-territorial taxation in light of:
    • German nexus rules which seek to subject non-residents to German tax on transfers of German registered IP
    • Recent UK developments
