Miami Social Programme
The social programme
An important element of the IBA Annual Conference is the social programme, which is designed to enable you to meet other delegates sharing the same interests in practice or from regions where you have business interests.
The social programme will also provide you with opportunities to take in the sights and sounds of Miami.
The programme begins on the evening of 30 October with the Conference Welcome party – which this year will take place at the Ice Palace Studios in downtown Miami, a 1920s ice plant converted into a film studio. It will finish on 4 November in spectacular style with the Closing party to be held at Nikki Beach – a restaurant and beach club on Miami Beach.
During the week there will be approximately 100 dinners, receptions and gatherings in some of the most interesting venues across the city. Apart from the opportunity to meet and connect with other delegates, they will allow you to visit some fantastic locations in Miami.
All advance social function bookings must be finalised by close of business on Tuesday 18 October. From 29 October, and subject to availability, social function purchases can either be made from the IBA registration desk in Miami or via your My IBA account. Please note that we cannot accept any special dietary requests for social function purchases made after 18 October.
Unwanted places at social events that are returned to the IBA registration desk in Miami, will only be refunded, less a 15 per cent administration charge, if they are resold. Any applicable refunds will be issued automatically after the conference. All new purchases at the conference are subject to availability.
To ensure your safety at an IBA social event, we ask you to indicate any dietary restrictions, intolerances or food allergies you may have on the conference registration form. This is to ensure that the food provided for you at an IBA event, where there is a plated meal, is safe for you to consume.
By disclosing this information, you agree to the IBA sharing this information with relevant third parties who are providing catering on our behalf.
If you have requested a specific meal, which must be provided by a third-party supplier, we will track to ensure delegates have received and consumed their requested meal.
Please note that the food provided at the welcome party, general delegate lunches and closing party is buffet style with options to cover a wide variety of dietary requirements, therefore we do not offer alternative individual dietary options at these events.
Dietary requirements for social function purchases made after Tuesday 18 October or requests for special meals made after this date cannot be guaranteed.
The IBA does not add a margin, mark-up prices or make a profit from IBA social functions. Dining in a large group will cost more than dining individually because of additional costs such as venue hire, transport, decoration, etc.
Committee social functions provide an ideal opportunity for conference delegates to meet in smaller groups with others practising in their field of law. A full list of the committee social functions taking place in Miami can be viewed in the Programme search on the conference website and can be purchased via your My IBA account.
