Peru: 700 legal experts are gathering in Lima to define the legal market's course for the next five years.

From 19–21 March 2025, the International Bar Association (IBA) is bringing together in Lima, Peru 700 legal professionals from Latin America and beyond to discuss potential legal trends over the next five years, and play a significant role in setting them. The event, the Biennial IBA Latin American Regional Forum Conference: The Road to 2030 in Latin America, has drawn senior lawyers from regional and international law firms, in-house counsel, academics and government officials.
As Latin America faces rapid transformations in business, regulation and compliance, this year's conference will serve as a strategic hub for thought leadership and networking. Participants will explore emerging challenges, investment prospects and best practices shaping the region’s legal landscape.
On Wednesday 19 March, opening remarks were delivered by IBA President, Jaime Carey – the first Chilean to hold the office – and the keynote speech was given by Julio Velarde, President of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. On Thursday, the keynote speaker will be Andrea de la Piedra, CEO and co-founder, Aequales, Lima, and on Friday Mitsuharu (Micha) Tsumura, Chef and owner of Maido, Lima, will deliver the keynote address.
Throughout the three-day-event, expert speakers will address topics including, dispute resolution, cross-border transactions and the evolving role of legal counsel in a constantly shifting global market, as well as hold specialised sessions on:
- energy transition and infrastructure challenges;
- artificial intelligence, talent retention and other key issues in law firm management;
- anticipating merger and acquisition trends, private equity, venture capital, capital markets and compliance;
- regulatory change amid perennial political uncertainty; and
- the technology and innovation boom.
The Biennial IBA Latin American Regional Forum Conference will take place at the Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center, Calle Las Begonias 450, San Isidro, Lima, Peru 27.
