Jairo holds an LLB from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Bogotá, postgraduates degrees in Administrative and Mining and Petroleum Law, and a Master Degree in Environment and Sustainable Development from the University of Melbourne. Jairo has worked in the private energy sector providing legal counsel on dispute resolution, investment, environmental and constitutional affairs related to the planning and development of massive energy projects in South America. Jairo has also been member of the legal affairs team of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change´s Secretariat in Bonn, Germany, where he worked in the implementation and compliance of the Paris Agreement, the Kyoto Protocol and the Framework Convention on Climate Change, particularly dealing with issues related to renewable energy technologies, climate change mitigation, nationally determined contributions and intergovernmental negotiations. Currently, Jairo is a Senior Associate at Peña Mancero Abogados in Bogotá, focusing his legal practice on international dispute resolution within the energy, extractive and technology industries.
