A webinar presented by the IBA Insolvency Section
Cryptocurrencies were routinely said by global regulators to be less of a priority for regulation given their niche market share and limited ability to affect global financial markets. During 2022, this approach saw a sharp U-turn when 3 Arrows Capital failed, kicking off a contagion of corporate collapses unlike any seen before in traditional financial markets and culminating in the demise of FTX.
This webinar aims to explore what happened to create the perfect storm, why the domino effect occurred, where these bankruptcies are now and what unique challenges these insolvencies have thrown up for practitioners worldwide. Our speakers are all involved in the global meltdowns of cryptocurrency businesses and will provide first-hand insight into some of the issues that have been experienced when applying traditional insolvency principles to borderless businesses dealing in intangible assets.
